Extensive knowledge and understanding of wood, steel and concrete design

Extensive knowledge of structural analysis

Extensive Knowledge of forensic engineering in residential and commercial structures

Extensive Knowledge of hydrology – River Analysis, bridges, culverts and storm sewer

Extensive knowledge and understanding of TxDot highway and roadway design

Extensive knowledge and understanding of engineering standards including IBC, IRC, ANSI, AISC and ACI

Extensive knowledge of civil and structural design documents and drawings necessary to complete a project

Supervising project team in a technical work environment

Knowledge of common word processing, spreadsheet, and e-mail softwareWorking in a team environment

Communicating effectively with co-workers, clients, etc.

Structural Experience; Performed structural inspections of residential and commercial structures and completed the reports. The reports included documenting the deficiencies, taking pictures, drawing layouts, performing Relative elevation surveys, writing the discussions, conclusion and recommendations:

Residential Structures (Slab-on-grade & Suspended Slabs): Inspected the exterior and interior of the structures. Documented all deficiencies noted (such as brick veneer cracks, foundation cracks, gypsum board cracks, mis-alignment of doors and windows, rotation of the molding, sagging of roof profiles, separations in rafters and other wood members, water stains, mold or mildew, slopes in the floors, separations in trim, cracks in wall and floor tiles, replaced gypsum board, spalling and cracking of exterior concrete grade beams, Poor drainage around the foundation system, exposed post-tension cable pockets, etc).

Residential Structures (Pier & Beam): Inspected the exterior, interior and the crawl space of the structures. Documented all deficiencies noted (such as rotted sub-floor, rotted beams, rotted plates, rotted floor joists, cracked piers, rotated piers, splices in wood beams and joists, spalling and cracking of grade beams, slopes in floors, suspended slab cracks, plumbing leaks, poor drainage around and under the structure, sagging in roof profiles, separations in attic members, etc).

Inspections of other structures involved some of the following: cracked and spalled concrete beams, cracked and spalled concrete basement walls, cracked commercial brick walls, cracked foundations, loss of cross-section of joist system for suspended slabs, cracked bulkheads, Collapsed retaining walls, repair plans, drilled shaft pier plans, etc.

Analysis: Performed analysis on all type of structures as well as on garage door headers, second and third floor beams, foundation beams, columns, signs, posts, cantilever balconies and rooms. Shearwalls. Designed steel beams for commercial and residential structures. All analysis was performed using StruCalc 7.0 and WinPost computer software. Designed suspended slab foundations, slab-on-grade (Post-tension and Rebar) foundations, Pier & Beam foundations. Designed foundation repair plans, retaining walls,…etc.

Windstorm design, analysis and inspections: I am a TDI approved engineer. I have designed residential structures, additions, commercial structures, detached garages, signs, arbors, roofs, carports, patios, etc. The analysis usually included Main Wind Force Resisting System pressures, the Component & Cladding pressures (Windows, Doors, exterior covering), Shearwall analysis, straps, hurricane clips, HTT4, anchor bolts, etc. I used Woodworks software and Win02 and Win05.

FEMA analysis and inspections: I have completed the CFM two week course to become a Floodplain Manager. I have completed and attended several FEMA classes.

I have also completed Stream Stability and Scour at Highway Bridges, 1998, National Highway Institute. I have analyzed bridges, culverts, commercial & residential structures under water.

I used HEC-RAS software to complete my analysis. Many of my projects were in flood zone areas. My reports were submitted to floodplain representatives for approvals. Performed and completed Elevation Certificates for FEMA.

Performed Relative Elevation Surveys using a transit and a water level.Completed 3D layouts of structures with contours using Microstation and 3D Software.

Performed Windstorm inspections and completed the WPI-1 & WPI-2 forms.

Performed backfill inspections – checked the select fill material used and took density for every 12” to 18” lifts of backfill.

Reviewed drainage issues and proposed repair options. Analyzed flooding of residential and commercial structures.

Designed reinforced concrete slabs, suspended slabs, post-tension slabs, pier and beam foundations, drilled shaft piers, footings, high rise signs, flitch beams, steel and wood decks, residential additions, residential plumbing re-rout backfill inspections (density control), foundation repair plans, superstructure evaluation and analysis, windstorm inspections, drainage study, analysis and recommendations.

Civil Experience; Designed traffic control plans, roadway plan & profile sheets for highways and overpasses, drainage plan & profile, drainage analysis, drainage ditch grading, striping and pavement markings and the SW3P sheets. Performed hydraulic analysis and compared to FEMA study. Submitted report to the Floodplain Manager. The bridges were designed based on the new water surface elevations with a 1 freeboard. Designed approximate nine-miles long storm sewer system using Geopak Drainage and Winstorm programs.

Designed the vertical profile using Geopak and coordinated the design of the utilities. Replaced the existing siphons; calculated quantities (HMAC, sidewalk, drainage areas, drainage summary sheets, striping details); coordinated the plans with the sub-consultants, and served as liaison with city officials, TxDOT engineers, and irrigation canal officials.

Designed cast-in-place concrete box culvert crossing Holly Road. The cast-in place concrete box was supported by drilled shaft concrete piers clearing a water line by 6 inches. The box was designed to handle moving loads. Inspected bridges and culverts for San Patricio County. The inspections included documenting the existing damage (cracking, scaling, delamination, spalling, efflorescence, honeycombs, wear, pop-outs, collision damage, abrasion, overload damage, corrosion, etc.) The inspections also included drawing a layout of the structures and filling out the bridge inspection forms including the FHWA structure inventory, condition, and appraisal.

ADDITIONAL EXPERIENCE 3D Modeling, Programming in Excel and other computer languages, Dos and photo editing.
